Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by supporting those with visual impairments in an educational setting. As a teacher working with visually impaired students, you'll provide essential instruction, accessibility solutions, and individualized assistance, helping learners build self-confidence and independence in the classroom.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Visual Impairments or related field Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with visual impairments Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies Strong collaboration and communication skills, working closely with school staff, families, and service providers Enthusiasm for promoting inclusion and equity in educational environments Compassion, patience, and a genuine commitment to student achievement
Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in individual and group settings Adapt curriculum materials and classroom activities for accessibility Work with general education teachers to modify instruction and ensure accommodations are in place Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to IEP meetings Equip students with orientation/mobility skills and advocate for appropriate resources Deliver ongoing training and support for staff regarding the unique needs of visually impaired students Promote self-advocacy skills and independence for all students served This contract position offers the opportunity to collaborate in an encouraging educational environment where your expertise will make a long-lasting impact.
