Provide students with rigorous, industry-aligned instruction in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement, including dual credit coursework, to prepare them for careers in public safety. The teacher will develop students' knowledge, technical skills, professionalism, and leadership while supporting campus safety initiatives and real-world learning experiences.QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or high school diploma/GED and equivalent wage-earning experience as required by certification Valid Texas career and technical education certificate with required license, endorsements, and training for subject and level assigned, or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI) Must meet credentialing requirements to teach dual credit through the partnering college/university Eligible for or currently holds appropriate law enforcement certifications (e.g., Texas Commission on Law Enforcement)Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong knowledge of criminal justice systems, law enforcement procedures, and public safety operations Knowledge of school safety protocols, emergency response, and threat mitigation strategies Ability to instruct dual credit-level coursework and maintain college rigor Ability to supervise and mentor student interns in real-world settings Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to collaborate with law enforcement agencies and community partnersExperience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer (preferred experience in patrol, investigations, school-based policing, or community policing) Experience working with youth, mentoring, or training preferredMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional Strategies Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion. Student Growth and Development Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal. Present a positive role model for students; support mission of school district. Implement Student Growth Measures as designated by the district and assess student growth throughout the school year. Promote and support student progress toward becoming a CTE Program Completer. Work to ensure student participation in Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs), with a focus on increasing success rates year over year. Classroom Management and Organization Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Communication Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Professional Growth and Development Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. CTE teachers are expected to actively participate in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) when aligned with their Program of Study and serve as the CTSO advisor or co-advisor. Work collaboratively with campus and district leaders to promote program growth and long-term sustainability. Extended Day / Extracurricular Responsibilities Must be willing to work outside the regular school day to support campus safety and security at extracurricular and school-sponsored events when requested Supervise and coordinate student interns during events as appropriate Assist with event planning related to safety, crowd management, and student supervision Other Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational area assigned. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Performance will be evaluated based on multiple metrics including student growth, program growth and sustainability, IBC success rates, and the percentage of students completing a CTE Program of Study.Supervisory Responsibilities:
