Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting elementary students as part of a specialized Positive Approach to Student Success (PASS) program designed for those experiencing significant emotional and behavioral challenges. This contract position is ideal for educators passionate about making a genuine difference, working onsite full-time (40 hours per week) through May 21, 2026. The role emphasizes inclusion and utilizes the innovative Why Try curriculum to help transform student behavior and foster growth.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education Teaching certification Previous experience working in behavior-focused programs, especially with elementary students In-depth understanding of emotional and behavioral disabilities, and experience implementing positive behavior interventions Familiarity with Inclusion services; general education classroom collaboration background is a plus Knowledge or prior use of the Why Try curriculum is beneficial Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities Ability to create a supportive and structured environment that inspires student success
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver special education services in a structured PASS classroom, supporting both academic and behavioral growth Implement the Why Try curriculum to enhance social-emotional skills and resilience Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure seamless inclusion experiences for students Develop and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral intervention strategies Continuously assess and adjust approaches to meet students' evolving needs Communicate progress and strategies effectively with families, staff, and related service providers What to
