A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Previous experience working with children who are visually impaired is highly preferred Strong ability to adapt educational materials and instructional strategies Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset Flexibility to work as a floating support, with caseloads to be determined based on student needs Ability to travel within the local area to support multiple students if neededKey Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments across various educational settings Collaborate with classroom teachers, staff, and families to implement effective accommodations and individualized education plans Assess, plan, and monitor progress on student goals and skills development Support students in building essential life skills, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive technology Maintain thorough documentation and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetingsBenefits:
