Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in students' educational journeys by supporting those with visual impairments in a dynamic school environment. This contract opportunity places you at the heart of student support, collaborating with faculty and families to deliver instruction and accommodations tailored for learners with visual needs.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Texas teaching certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain Proven experience working with school-aged children who are blind or have low vision Expertise in Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive materials Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities Ability to create, implement, and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Up-to-date knowledge of state and federal education regulations regarding visual impairments
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver specialized instructional strategies for students with visual impairments in individual and group settings Conduct assessments to determine students' specific vision-related educational needs Collaborate with classroom teachers and special education teams to modify curriculum and materials for accessibility Train staff and family members on the use of adaptive equipment and resources Prepare and maintain progress reports and documentation according to district and legal standards Serve as an advocate and resource for students and their families throughout the school year This contract position offers the unique fulfillment that comes from supporting the independence and growth of students who are visually impaired.
