Responsibilities Design and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum and with developmental disabilities. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with special education law and educational standards. Employ evidence-based behavioral management techniques and behavioral therapy strategies to support positive behavior and social skills development. Collaborate closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, parents, and other professionals to coordinate student support services. Adapt instructional materials and modify classroom activities to ensure accessibility for all learners, integrating educational technology where appropriate. Conduct assessments, including standardized testing and progress monitoring, to evaluate student growth and inform instructional modifications. Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, behavior management plans, and communication logs for parent-teacher conferences and legal compliance. Qualifications Proven experience working with children or students with disabilities in classroom settings, including early childhood education or elementary school environments. Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, curriculum development, and instructional modifications. Expertise in teaching students with autism spectrum disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, or other developmental disabilities. Proficiency in classroom management techniques that foster a positive learning environment for diverse learners. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with parents, colleagues, and support staff. Familiarity with behavioral health strategies, speech therapy integration, literacy education, math instruction, and standardized testing procedures. Experience working in private schools or Montessori settings is a plus; certification in special education is highly desirable.
