Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher near the Southeast Texas Coast, supporting students in a vibrant, welcoming school environment. This full-time contract position offers the chance to make a positive impact with the 2026-2027 academic year, spanning from August 3, 2026, to May 28, 2027. With over 50 vacancies anticipated across different physical locations, you'll have the flexibility to find a fit that matches your expertise and preferences. Each assignment is structured for one school, ensuring focused support and meaningful relationships with your students.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Texas DOE Certification in Special Education required Proven history working with students who have Autism and/or severe behavioral needs is highly preferred Familiarity with fingerprinting requirements under Texas law or willingness to complete this step promptly Demonstrated commitment to nurturing inclusive, supportive classroom environments Exceptional communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) Deliver specialized instruction in both group and one-on-one settings, tailored to diverse student needs Manage and proactively address challenging behaviors using evidence-based approaches Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, general education teachers, and support staff Engage and communicate regularly with families and guardians Maintain accurate student records, documenting progress and compliance This is an exciting time to join a district building out a robust special education team.
