The teacher will support each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through play-based learning, hands-on activities, daily routines, and intentional teacher guidance. The ideal teacher enjoys working with young children, is patient and nurturing, and understands that two-year-olds are developing independence while still needing plenty of guidance, encouragement, and reassurance. Essential Responsibilities Provide a warm, nurturing, and welcoming environment where each child feels safe, loved, and valued. Supervise children closely at all times and maintain a safe and clean classroom. Plan and provide age-appropriate, play-based activities that encourage learning and exploration. Support children's development in: Social and emotional skills Language and communication Fine and gross motor skills Early math and problem-solving Sensory exploration Art, music, and movement Self-help and independence skills Establish and maintain consistent classroom routines, including arrival, meals/snacks, bathroom/diapering, handwashing, transitions, rest time, and dismissal. Help children learn to express their feelings and appropriately interact with teachers and classmates. Encourage sharing, taking turns, following simple directions, and using appropriate language to communicate needs. Support children who are experiencing separation anxiety and help them develop confidence and comfort in the classroom. Assist children with toileting and other age-appropriate self-care skills. Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's day, development, accomplishments, and any concerns. Work cooperatively with classroom assistants, other teachers, and CLC administration. Maintain accurate classroom records and complete required paperwork and documentation. Follow all CLC policies and procedures as well as Texas childcare licensing requirements. Participate in staff meetings, training, professional development, and CLC events as needed. Incorporate age-appropriate Bible stories, songs, prayers, and Christian values into the classroom throughout the week. Treat every child and family with respect, kindness, patience, and confidentiality. Classroom Expectations The 2-year-old teacher should be prepared for an active classroom where children are learning to become more independent. Teachers should provide consistent routines, positive guidance, clear expectations, and lots of encouragement while allowing children opportunities to explore and learn through play. Teachers should be comfortable getting down on the children's level, engaging in play, singing songs, reading books, helping with messy activities, and celebrating the small milestones that are so important at this age. Qualifications Previous experience working with toddlers or preschool-aged children preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Must meet all Texas childcare licensing requirements for the position. CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required or willingness to obtain. Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff. Dependable, patient, nurturing, and able to work as part of a team. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the classroom. Lift and carry young children when necessary.
