Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference by supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing on a contract basis. This role provides a dynamic opportunity to empower young learners who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping them access education and communicate confidently in an inclusive environment.

Key Qualifications:

State certification/license in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility) Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or related field Strong knowledge of assistive hearing technologies and communication modalities (e.g., ASL, total communication, auditory-oral) Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with hearing loss Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, families, and administrators Excellent communication, organization, and advocacy skills Previous experience in a school setting is highly preferred

Core Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, both individually and in group settings Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to ensure student engagement and understanding Conduct assessments and contribute to the IEP process, monitoring student progress and adjusting goals as needed Serve as a resource to school staff, providing training or support as appropriate Facilitate communication between students, teachers, families, and additional service providers Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
