Qualifications and Experience:
Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or eligibility for endorsement Demonstrated experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments Ability to conduct functional vision and learning media assessments Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional methods Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration with families, students, and fellow staff Organized, self-motivated, and adaptable to changing needs within the school
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each students specific vision-related needs Provide direct specialized instructionindividually or in small groups Teach Braille literacy, use of low vision aids, and techniques to access core curriculum materials Consult regularly with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to ensure accommodations are effective Keep accurate records documenting student progress and required reporting Support transition planning and advocacy as students move through grade levels Youll be welcomed by a passionate educational community committed to equity, inclusion, and continual learning.
