A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Anticipated - Duty Free Teacher Assistance (EC-5) - ( RTP20260813-012 ) Description Assist in conducting intensified learning experience for students in assigned area and relieves teacher of various non-instructional duties Assist teacher in the management of student arrival and departure time Perform supportive tasks for a certified teacher that is primarily non-instructional in nature Assist teacher and students in achieving the objectives of the program or activities Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up learning activity Assist in filing, organizing materials for distribution and recording information Assist in maintaining student records, attendance and files Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment /alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel. Qualifications Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) , plus one of the following: Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, pass an academic assessment Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification Proficient in basic communication techniques and language Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents and the general public Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions Must possess good writing skills and be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and employees Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession
