A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

A flexible, campus-based educator who provides classroom coverage when teachers are absent and supports campus-wide duties as assigned. This role serves as a talent pipeline, preparing qualified candidates for future full-time teaching openings within the district.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required (or actively pursuing degree). Eligible to enroll in a teacher certification programKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the campus. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district. Ability to use computers including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine, and telephone.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver instruction based on provided lesson plans and learning objectives, using appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs. Cover classrooms campus-wide when the assigned teacher is absent Manage student behavior and classroom routines Take attendance and complete required documentation Build positive, professional relationships with students, staff, families, and campus leadership. Work collaboratively with experienced teachers to strengthen instructional planning and classroom practices Support campus-wide duties as assigned (duty, lunch, dismissal, testing, etc.) Communicate with administration on coverage needs Attend required staff meetings and professional development Step into full-time teaching roles as openings arise Perform any other duties as assignedWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Light Work:
may require occasional light lifting. Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required. Position is in an office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location. Moderate travel is required.Benefits
