Job Description

Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Visual Impairment or Special Education (with endorsement/certification for visual impairment) Valid state teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience with Braille instruction and adaptive technology for visually impaired learners Strong communication abilities for collaborating with students, families, and staff Ability to individualize instruction based on students IEPs and developmental needs Familiarity with assistive devices, orientation and mobility concepts, and accommodations for accessibility
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments in individual and group settings Assess students functional vision and adjust teaching strategies and materials accordingly Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Coordinate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure accommodations and modifications are met Educate and support family members and school personnel about visual impairments, Braille, and specialized equipment Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages independence and self-advocacy for students Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports Take this opportunity to positively impact students academic journeys and personal growth.
