This contract opportunity is designed for a specialist or teacher with experience and dedication to empowering students who are deaf or hard of hearing to achieve their fullest potential. This role begins as a part-time position, but hours expand to full time by collaborating with two nearby school districts.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
Current certification to work as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Demonstrated experience supporting DHH students in educational settings Strong knowledge of language development, communication strategies, and assistive technology for DHH learners Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students unique needs Effective collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams Flexibility to travel between districts as needed
What You Will Do:
Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing within the assigned schools Conduct assessments to determine students educational and communication needs Consult with teachers and staff to create accessible classroom environments and inclusive learning experiences Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and adjust interventions as needed Serve as a resource to families, offering guidance on advocacy, transition planning, and additional support services Coordinate schedules with the three partner districts to ensure full-time engagement This is an exciting chance to make a meaningful impact across communities while working collaboratively with passionate educators and specialists.
