9670504-22443 Job Description Passionate about supporting students with hearing impairments? An exciting contract opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to provide expert instruction and advocacy for learners in need. This position is structured as a part-time role that, when combined with additional hours in neighboring areas, offers the potential for a full-time schedule.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education Experience adapting communication methods such as ASL, Signed English, and/or oral approaches to meet student needs Demonstrated ability to assess and accommodate a range of hearing abilities Strong collaboration skills to work alongside general and special education staff Commitment to ongoing professional development in deaf education best practices Ability to travel between assigned sites for direct student support
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction to students with hearing impairments, tailoring lessons to individual language and communication profiles Consult with classroom teachers and related staff to promote inclusive and accessible learning environments Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals specific to hearing needs Teach self-advocacy, communication, and compensatory strategies Support families through resources, progress updates, and guidance on technologies such as FM systems or cochlear implants Maintain thorough documentation of services, evaluations, and ongoing progress Coordinate schedules and services as required when working across multiple buildings or districts This role is ideal for DHH specialists eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students while enjoying a varied and stimulating work environment.
