Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference as a Special Education Teacher providing individualized support to a 1st grade student requiring compensatory services. This contract opportunity allows you to work directly with one student in a home-based setting. The student is non-verbal and exhibits self-injurious behaviors, so experience with behavioral management and specialized instruction is essential. Specific service hours, exact term, and modality (in-person or virtual) are being finalized and will be communicated shortly.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching license or eligibility for licensure Demonstrated experience working with elementary-aged students with significant communication needs Skill in using adaptive communication methods, such as AAC or non-verbal supports Strong background in implementing behavior intervention strategies Ability to collaborate effectively with families and multidisciplinary teams Compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to individualized instruction Willingness to provide services in the student's home environment
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement tailored learning plans based on compensatory service requirements Use evidence-based strategies to address IEP goals and foster progress in a non-verbal student Apply effective behavior management interventions for self-injurious behaviors Monitor and document student progress, making data-driven instructional adjustments Maintain regular communication with caregivers and relevant school staff Adapt materials and methods to ensure meaningful participation and learning
