A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
- General Special Education will be responsible for teaching students in the private day school setting in Harrisonburg, VA.
Please note:
This role requires driving, therefore a "clean driving record" is critical.Compensation & Benefits:

Virginia Special Education Teaching License or (license eligible). Bachelor's degree in Education with an Endorsement in Special Education preferred. Ability to work year-round with built-in breaks. Safety-Care Certification (Training provided). Must have a valid Virginia Drivers' License, proof of insurance, satisfactory Driving Record (less than 5 demerit points).Monday-Friday:
8AM-4PM. Year-round program.DRIVING SPECIFIC
( The following list may or may not be all inclusive at time of posting ): Must not have any of the following violations within the last 5 years: Reckless driving, including speeding 20mph or more over the posted speed limit. Driving under the influence/impaired/intoxicated or refusing a blood/breath test. Manslaughter or negligent homicide. Driving after being declared a habitual offender. Driving on a suspended or revoked license Driving a commercial motor vehicle while disqualified, under the influence, with a blood alcohol level of .04 or higher, refusing a blood/breath test, or violating an out-of-service order. Injuring a person while racing- felony. Failure to stop at the scene of a crash where there is injury, death, or property damage of $1000 or more. Emergency vehicle violation
