Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement Previous school-based experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing Strong understanding of communication methods for DHH students, including ASL, cued speech, and auditory/oral approaches Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Excellent collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families Commitment to culturally responsive, student-centered instruction
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings Assess student needs and progress, adapting instructional strategies accordingly Collaborate with regular education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other related service providers Offer resources and training to staff and families, promoting effective communication and awareness Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, contribute to assessments, and help develop comprehensive IEPs Travel between campuses in King George, Colonial Beach, and Westmoreland as needed to ensure continuity of services
