9670487-22535 Job Description Make a positive impact supporting students by sharing your expertise as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist and Teacher. This contract role is based in an engaging school environment near Port Royal, VA. While this position begins as part-time, youll have the unique opportunity to combine hours across multiple nearby districts, providing fulfilling, full-time responsibilities throughout Colonial Beach, Westmoreland, and the surrounding areas.
Qualifications:
State certification (or eligibility) as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist/Teacher Proficiency in assessing and developing academic and communication goals for DHH students Experience providing direct services to school-aged children, including individualized and group instruction Strong skills in collaborating with educators, support staff, and families to foster inclusive learning Capability to adapt teaching strategies for a diverse range of needs and communication modes Clear, compassionate communication and advocacy skills
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailored to IEPs and individual goals Consult with educators and administrators to ensure classroom accommodations and access to curriculum Facilitate use of assistive technology and hearing equipment Develop resources and adapt materials to support student learning and participation Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, support IEP process, and maintain compliance with federal/state regulations Provide guidance and resources to school staff and families to promote understanding and inclusion Working in this dynamic regional role allows you to reach students across multiple communities, making a lasting difference while gaining diverse experience.
