Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a direct impact by educating and supporting students in a specialized Life Skills classroom for grades K-5 as a Special Education Teacher in a vibrant educational setting near South Boston, VA. This is a full-time contract position, offering 37.5 hours per week, where you will work closely with a small group of four students and a team of dedicated paraprofessionals.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification Experience or strong interest in working in life skills or self-contained classrooms Proven ability to support students with diverse learning needs Skilled in creating individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting instructional strategies Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities
Role Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized and group lesson plans geared toward functional life skills and academic progress Collaborate with classroom paraprofessionals to deliver instruction and behavioral support Foster a nurturing, inclusive environment to help students reach their full potential Collect and analyze student performance data to adjust teaching methods as needed Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and related service providers regarding student goals and progress Support classroom routines and actively contribute to a positive school community This is a wonderful opportunity to make meaningful connections with students in a supportive, resource-rich classroom.
