Key Responsibilities:

Develop and carry out Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs. Deliver direct instruction aligned with state standards and individual learning goals. Implement structured, evidence-based strategies for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Utilize positive behavior interventions and supports; implement and monitor behavior intervention plans. Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists and specialists, to ensure continuity of care and student success. Direct and supervise classroom paraprofessionals to maintain a supportive learning environment. Maintain compliance-related documentation; collect and assess student progress data. Promote communication, social, and independent living skills within a highly structured and safe classroom setting.

Desired Skills & Experience:

Active Virginia Special Education Teaching License or eligibility to obtain licensure. Experience developing/implementing IEPs and strong knowledge of special education compliance. Effective classroom management and behavioral support expertise. Ability to collaborate well with families and multidisciplinary colleagues. Previous background in Autism-focused and self-contained classroom settings (preferred). Familiarity with ABA, structured teaching, visual supports, and crisis prevention techniques is a plus.
