9670504-22572 Job Description Make a difference in the lives of students by providing specialized instruction as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This contract opportunity is located near Warsaw, VA and offers the chance to work closely with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across several schools. The position is part time but can be combined with nearby schools in Colonial Beach and Westmoreland to create a full-time schedule, enhancing your impact and professional experience.
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or a related field required Current state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Experience working in school settings with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred Knowledge of auditory/oral and total communication approaches Ability to adapt lessons and materials for individualized instruction Strong collaboration and communication skills for partnering with educators, families, and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing Provide direct instruction in academic and communication skills, adapting methods to each students abilities and needs Use appropriate technology and resources to support students learning Consult and coordinate with general education teachers, therapists, and other specialists Monitor student progress and maintain comprehensive documentation Support schools in Warsaw, Colonial Beach, and Westmoreland as part of your assignment Offer guidance and strategies to colleagues and families to encourage inclusive practices Enjoy a dynamic work environment where your expertise helps pave the way for student achievement.
