: Open Until Filled Woodbridge School District is accepting applications for a Teacher Academy Teacher at WMS. This is a full-time, 10-month, benefit-eligible teaching position.

JOB SUMMARY

: The Middle School Teacher Academy teacher is responsible for developing and delivering an engaging instructional program that introduces middle school students to the teaching profession and careers in education. The program is designed to foster student interest in education through career exploration, leadership development, foundational teaching concepts, and experiential learning opportunities. Students develop communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills while gaining an understanding of child development, learning, and the role of educators in schools and communities. In collaboration with school and district staff, the Middle School Teacher Academy teacher supports the development of a cohesive educator pipeline by preparing students for successful transition into the district's high school Teacher Academy program and other "Grow Your Own" educator initiatives. The teacher works closely with district leaders, school administrators, and community partners to promote awareness of careers in education and create meaningful learning experiences that inspire future educators. The position requires strong instructional expertise, creativity, collaboration, and a commitment to cultivating the next generation of educators by building student interest, confidence, and leadership at an early age.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

: Must hold or be eligible for teaching certification in elementary or secondary education in the State of Delaware. Minimum of four (4) years of highly effective classroom teaching experience Demonstrated record of high-quality instruction as evidenced through classroom observations, educator evaluations, student achievement and growth, or other measures of instructional effectiveness. Demonstrated expertise in designing and delivering engaging, student-centered instruction that promotes high levels of learning and achievement. Evidence of strong classroom management and the ability to establish a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community partners. Knowledge of current instructional best practices, learning theory, assessment practices, and differentiated instruction. Strong written, verbal, presentation, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor middle and/or high school students interested in pursuing careers in education. Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional growth, innovation, and educational excellence. Familiarity with Career and Technical Education (CTE) education pathways, career exploration, and work-based learning preferred. Understanding of educator workforce development initiatives, including "Grow Your Own" educator pathways, teacher residency, and educator recruitment efforts preferred. Experience serving in teacher leadership roles such as mentoring, instructional coaching, curriculum development, professional learning facilitation preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

: Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned curriculum that introduces students to careers in education and the teaching profession. Develop and implement lessons focused on foundational teaching concepts, child development, learning styles, classroom culture, communication, leadership, and educational careers. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Integrate real-world applications and current trends in education into daily instruction. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including project-based, inquiry-based, and experiential learning. Foster students' interest in careers in education and inspire them to consider becoming future educators. Provide opportunities for students to develop leadership, collaboration, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Guide students in designing and facilitating age-appropriate learning activities, peer tutoring experiences, classroom presentations, or school-based service-learning opportunities. Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback that supports academic and personal growth. Coordinate age-appropriate observational experiences, career exploration activities, guest speakers, job-shadowing opportunities, or school-based learning experiences that introduce students to educational settings. Collaborate with elementary, middle, and high school educators to provide authentic learning experiences and strengthen the educator pipeline. Establish and maintain relationships with district staff, community partners, and advisory committee members to support program growth and relevance. Develop and implement assessments that measure student learning, leadership development, career awareness, and professional skills. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and program participation. Use student performance data to inform instruction and support continuous program improvement. Collaborate with school counselors, administrators, CTE staff, and district leaders to recruit and retain students in the Teacher Academy pathway. Prepare students for successful transition into the district's high school Teacher Academy program. Support district "Grow Your Own" initiatives by promoting awareness of educator career pathways and opportunities available through secondary and postsecondary programs. Promote student participation in education-focused leadership activities, service-learning projects, career exploration events, and district-sponsored opportunities. Serve as a resource for students interested in pursuing careers in education. Promote the Middle School Teacher Academy program within the school, district, and community through student showcases, recruitment activities, and community engagement. Maintain current knowledge of educational practices, instructional strategies, and workforce trends related to education careers. Participate in ongoing professional learning and collaboration with district Teacher Academy staff. Adhere to district policies, procedures, and professional standards. Maintain a safe, inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment. Perform other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

This is a 10-month position based on a 188-day annual contract. Employees are expected to work 7.5 hours per day, consistent with the established school and district schedules. Responsibilities may include duties beyond instructional time, such as meetings, professional development, and school-related events. Employees are expected to maintain regular attendance, fulfill all assigned responsibilities, and demonstrate flexibility to meet the evolving needs of students, staff, and the district. This position may require additional workdays during the summer months beyond the standard school-year schedule.
