Job Description

Step into a rewarding role supporting the success of students with diverse needs as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract position is based in vibrant school communities near Northfield, VT, offering the chance to make a lasting impact on young learners.
Two exciting opportunities are available:
Middle School Special Educator, focused on guiding 5th and 6th graders through their academic and personal growth at the middle and elementary level. This role emphasizes direct teaching, thoughtful case management, conducting student evaluations, and crafting effective IEPs. High School Special Educator, responsible for overseeing the academic journey of students on IEPs at the high school level. Here, you will deliver targeted instruction, manage complex caseloads, and support a collaborative team of paraeducators.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Current licensure meeting all state requirements for Special Education. Demonstrated experience teaching and case-managing students in middle or high school special education settings. Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs and conducting educational evaluations. Ability to foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment and collaborate with diverse educational teams. Commitment to in-person instruction and engagementfully onsite presence is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop individualized learning plans and instructional strategies to meet unique student needs. Conduct thorough assessments and maintain accurate education records. Collaborate with families, general education teachers, and support staff to maximize student growth. Mentor and supervise paraeducators as part of a collaborative team.
