Job Description

Make an impact supporting students as a skilled educator for the visually impaired and a proficient Braillist in a vibrant school setting. This rewarding contract opportunity near Everett, WA, invites professionals passionate about empowering students with visual impairments to thrive both academically and personally.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
Valid certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Strong experience in Braille transcription and instruction Familiarity with adaptive technology and accessible instructional strategies Proven ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments Collaborative and flexible approach to working with classroom teachers, staff, and families Commitment to fostering independence, accessibility, and inclusion in an educational environment
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments, supporting Braille literacy and the use of assistive technology Adapt curriculum materials into appropriate accessible formats, including Braille, large print, and tactile graphics Provide training and support to staff and families regarding strategies and tools that enhance learning for visually impaired students Conduct assessments to determine students functional vision and learning needs Advocate for accessible classrooms and equal educational opportunities Maintain thorough progress documentation and participate in IEP meetings to inform educational planning
