Student Behavior Support Specialist Burgio Educational Consulting Services Port Angeles, WA Job Details Full-time $25 - $30 an hour 6 days ago Benefits Paid time off Paid sick time Qualifications Working with individuals with developmental disabilities Teamwork High school diploma or GED Driver's License Working with children Attention to detail Full Job Description Overview of the Role Burgio Educational Consulting Services (BECS) is seeking dedicated and empathetic professionals to join our team as Student Behavior Support Specialists in K-12 school settings. In this role, you will work directly with students who benefit from additional behavioral and social-emotional support, helping them succeed both academically and personally. This is a hands-on position focused on building positive student outcomes through structured strategies, collaboration with school teams, and consistent support throughout the school day. You will work closely with educators and behavior specialists to create supportive, inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive. What You'll Do Support students in developing positive behaviors, communication skills, and daily functioning abilities Implement individualized intervention strategies developed by a supervising behavior specialist (BCBA) Work with students individually and in small groups within classroom settings Use evidence-based approaches (including ABA-informed practices) to guide student progress Monitor student behavior and maintain accurate, timely data records Help create structured classroom environments that promote consistency and engagement Utilize tools such as visual schedules, communication devices, and supports tailored to student needs Respond to behavioral challenges using proactive strategies and appropriate de-escalation techniques Maintain a safe and respectful environment for all students Partner with teachers, families, and support staff to align on student goals and progress Complete required documentation in accordance with program and district expectations
What We're Looking For Preferred Background:
Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Certified Behavior Technician (CBT) REQUIRED or willing to obtain upon hire Experience working with school-aged children, especially those with autism or behavioral support needs Understanding of behavioral principles or special education environments Strong attention to detail, especially in following plans and documenting progress Ability to collaborate effectively with a team Additional Experience (a plus): Familiarity with AAC devices, sign language, or alternative communication methods Training in crisis prevention (CPI, Safety-Care, Right Response, etc.) Knowledge of trauma-informed practices Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Ability to pass Washington State background check and fingerprinting Valid Washington State driver's license Reliable transportation for travel between school locations Ability to safely assist students, including lifting up to 35 pounds when needed Three professional references Completion of required onboarding and training What You'll Receive Paid Sick Leave in accordance with Washington State guidelines Paid Time Off (up to 35 hours annually for eligible full-time employees after 90 days) Workers' Compensation coverage Access to ongoing professional development, including: Behavior support strategies De-escalation techniques Trauma-informed approaches Direct support and mentorship from experienced leadership and behavior specialists A consistent school schedule with holidays and breaks aligned to the academic calendar Growth Opportunities At BECS, we are committed to helping our team grow professionally.
