Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

  • Key Details
  • School-based Special Education Teacher opportunities available at the elementary and junior high levels, including Resource and Support Center programs. All positions require a Washington Teaching Certificate and Special Education Endorsement.

  • + Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred + Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract, or district regulations + Minimum of one year experience in a teaching environment preferred +

Standard Elementary Teaching preferred +

Standard Secondary Teaching preferred +
State Teacher Certification:
Standard Special Teaching preferred +
Endorsement:
Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred + Current CPR certification, health clearance, and TB documentation (if required) + Must comply with all relevant professional standards of practice + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements + Must be at least 18 years of age
