Renton School District Special Education Department:
In Renton, we are focused on all students. We authentically believe in inclusion and providing a full continuum of services to our community of learners. This can be seen through our Vision of Instruction that states our instructional focus is "Inclusive and rigorous learning experiences in which each student is empowered and engaged in caring communities." We also know that inclusive practices are hard work, and we don't expect our staff to do it alone. Every teacher has access to a highly qualified Special Education Facilitator to brainstorm with and receive coaching from, as well as access to a Special Education Director who will partner with you. All of our special education certificated staff receive a generous stipend and IEP release days. New special education staff receive a significant amount of support during the on-boarding process, including specialized training on writing IEPs and review of curriculum and instructional materials available to our staff. Thank you for your interest! We can't wait to receive your application to join the Renton School District family! We are looking for amazing people who have diverse backgrounds and experiences, are inspired by our mission and values of service, excellence and equity, and are highly motivated to change children's lives through education. We value diversity of ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, sexual identity, gender, religion, language, ability, and experience. We encourage applicants who may historically self-select out of hiring processes due to structural and historical inequities to apply. These include but are not limited to, Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC), LGBTQIA+, women, veterans, and people living with disabilities.
