Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Shape the future of young adults with special needs by contributing your expertise in a transition-focused classroom serving students ages 18-22. This onsite opportunity involves working full-time, 37.5 hours per week, throughout the 2026-2027 academic year. You'll support students as they develop life and vocational skills, empowering them for greater independence in their next phase of life.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid WA Special Education (SPED) teaching license ESA (Educational Staff Associate) certificate required, with verification provided upon application Minimum of 5 years of direct experience as a Special Education Teacher in school settings Solid background in transition services for older students with special needs Demonstrated ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning profiles Strong collaboration skills with teams and families Commitment to professional excellence and cultural responsiveness
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver instruction and individualized support to students in a transition program (ages 18-22) Design and implement IEPs with a focus on functional academics, social skills, job readiness, and community integration Monitor student progress, maintaining accurate records and documentation Collaborate closely with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families Participate in all required meetings, professional development, and compliance activities Adhere to district, state, and federal guidelines for special education programs
