TEACHING POSITION
Requires Alaska teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement (s) (for information visit: http://www.eed.state.ak.us/TeacherCertification ).
Position Summary:
This position will promote the kind of instruction and learning environment that will enable each student to master skills appropriate to age, grade level and individual capacity. This posting is for various positions around the district substituting for certified staff out on medical leave, maternity/paternity leave, or other long-term certified vacancies. Contract length varies depending on the assignment, guaranteed to be not less than 20 consecutive contract days. It is the expectation that this position will handle all aspects of the professional responsibilities of the teaching position including generating lesson plans, classroom management and participation in site activities.
Minimum Requirements:
Valid Alaska teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement. Bachelor's or Master's degree in education.
Preferred Requirements:
Master's degree in education preferred. Experience teaching at grade level appropriate to endorsement. Experience or ability to work with instructional technology is highly desirable. Experience working with team teaching, integrated content and project-based assessment. Experience integrating technology into the classroom. Previous experience working on a team in a professional learning community.
Compensation :
Certified teacher salary is based on the JEA Salary Schedule and is dependent on experience and education. We also offer an excellent benefit package including medical, dental, vision, and the Teachers Retirement System (TRS) plan for assignments that extend beyond the benefit probationary period.
