We are hiring two long-term substitutes. One will teach 11th/12th grade dual credit English classes. One will teach 6th/7th grade Science classes. These roles will teach from approximately February ? April 2027. Scottsdale Christian Academy (SCA) is a Christ-Centered covenant Christian school in metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. A Long-Term Substitute Teacher takes over a classroom for a prolonged period of time when a regular teacher is absent, ensuring that students have a fulfilling learning experience. Their duties include completing all responsibilities in the teacher?s absence, including grading, parent communication, events, conferences, emails, duties and prep work. The ideal candidate will have substitute-teaching experience and an ability to lead classrooms effectively.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES

: Education & Certification Bachelor?s Degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college is required; Master?s Degree preferred. State teaching certification and/or substitute teaching certification preferred.

Experience:

Training in Education and best practices in teaching is preferred. Prior teaching experience preferred.

Skills:

Ability to teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods. Ability to develop authentic relationships with young adults. Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and problem resolution skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations. Excellent organizational skills for multi-tasking and prioritizing responsibilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Knowledge of FACTS a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Must be able to traverse school grounds and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment. Supervise students in and out of the classroom. Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students. Design lessons when needed that teach the curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods. Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan(s). Display a deep knowledge of English Language Arts or Science. Connect Biblical truth to students. Maintain records by documenting grades, attendance, and behavior. Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student. Maintain the time schedule given for the teacher?s teaching and duty responsibilities. Complete all responsibilities in the teacher?s absence, including grading, parent communication, events, conferences, emails, duties and prep work. Become familiar with and adhere to school emergency protocols, such as fire drills and lockdowns.
