Substitute Teachers provide classroom coverage as needed to support our teaching teams and maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children. Substitute Teachers may work in classrooms serving children ages 2-5 and are expected to adapt quickly to classroom routines while supporting children's learning, play, and daily care needs. Qualified applicants who are selected will be added to our active substitute pool and contacted as staffing needs arise throughout the school year.

Responsibilities Include:

• Ensure that all children are accounted for at all times through regular headcounts, classroom supervision, and adherence to all health and safety procedures.
• Maintain direct supervision of children and support a safe, positive classroom environment.
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families, and staff members.
• Support classroom teachers in implementing daily routines, curriculum activities, and transitions.
• Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities including art, sensory play, storytelling, dramatic play, music and movement, outdoor play, and other classroom experiences.
• Assist with children's social-emotional development by modeling positive interactions and guiding behavior in a respectful manner.
• Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and family structures within our community.
• Follow classroom schedules, procedures, and guidance provided by lead teachers and administrators.
• Observe and communicate any concerns regarding children's health, safety, or well-being to classroom teachers or administration.
• Assist with diapering, toileting, handwashing, meals, snacks, and nap routines as needed.
• Perform light classroom duties such as preparing snacks, sanitizing tables, sweeping, setting up and putting away materials, stocking supplies, and assisting with opening or closing tasks.
• Attend required trainings and maintain all licensing-required certifications.

Schedule This is an on-call position with no guaranteed minimum hours. Substitute Teachers are contacted as staffing needs arise due to employee absences, training days, vacations, and other program needs. Availability may be provided in advance and scheduling flexibility is appreciated. Compensation Compensation is dependent upon education, experience, and ECE units. Qualifications:

• Basic required 12 semester or equivalent ECE units preferred
• Minimum of 1 year experience in an early childhood classroom setting
• Practical knowledge of play based, emergent curriculum and projects based approach to learning
• Demonstrated cultural competency in the workplace
• Reliable transportation and the ability to respond to substitute requests on short notice

Compensation:

Dependent on length of experience, level of education and number of ECE units. The range is between 20-23 dollars per hour.

Pay:

$22.00 - $23.00 per hour
