$45.00 per class About The Athenian School The Athenian School is an independent college preparatory boarding and day school in Danville, CA, serving students in grades 6-12. Dedicated to experiential, collaborative, and interdisciplinary learning, Athenian fosters critical thinking, reasoned discourse, and mutual respect. Position Overview Athenian seeks adaptable, engaging Substitute Teachers to provide high-quality classroom instruction across various subject areas on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate brings strong classroom management, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to supporting diverse learners in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities Instructional Delivery:
Implement lesson plans provided by the primary teacher; adapt content thoughtfully to foster experiential and interdisciplinary learning.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment that encourages critical thinking and active student engagement.
Community Engagement:
Support Athenian's core pillars and participate in daily community life, activities, and campus routines as needed.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work seamlessly with Middle and Upper School leadership, faculty, and administrative staff to ensure continuity of learning.
Core Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Education or a related academic discipline required.
Experience:
Background teaching or working with Middle School (grades 6-8) and/or Upper School (grades 9-12) students.
Cultural Competency:
Proven ability to connect and work effectively with students, families, and colleagues across a wide range of identities, backgrounds, and experiences.
Subject Versatility:
Flexibility to cover core academic subjects (e.g., Humanities, STEM, Languages) as assigned.
