Our community provides a rigorous and faith-filled Catholic education and form students to become faithful Catholics, active learners, self motivators, and globally aware citizens. We are seeking a Long Term Substitute 1st Grade Teacher to join our team. The Long Term Substitute 1st Grade Teacher will provide a developmentally appropriate educational program that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of first-grade students. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator or a recent graduate to make a meaningful impact by fostering a positive learning environment, delivering engaging instruction, and helping students build the foundational skills necessary for continued academic success. This position is typically 8 hours per day (with some extended hours for school events) and is scheduled to begin early September and is scheduled to end Mid November. St. Emydius School is a part of the Archdiocese of L.A. Dept. of Catholic Schools' Solidarity Schools Initiative (Cohort 1) which has proven successful in improving student performance in math and reading. The candidate will receive intense training and instructional coaching support in order to implement the following components of the program with fidelity: Success for All is a comprehensive reading program (K - 5) that will be extended to middle school this year to continue developing foundational reading comprehension skills, social emotional wellbeing and uses cooperative learning strategies to increase student engagement. Illustrative Math is a problem-based math curriculum (K - 8th) designed to foster student engagement, critical thinking, and real-world application. Requirements Bachelor's degree (or higher). Valid teaching credential and/or Master's Degree in the field of education or subject related field is preferred, but not required. Candidates in the process and enrolled in a teacher preparation program are welcomed to apply. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. Previous experience in a classroom setting, especially at the elementary level, is preferred. Willingness to grow professionally and attend trainings as needed
