Substitute Teacher - Head Start $25.03/hour | On-Call / Substitute

We are seeking caring, dependable, and flexible Substitute Teachers to support Head Start preschool classrooms. In this role, you'll step into classrooms as needed and work alongside experienced early childhood educators to provide safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences. What You'll Do Classroom Support & Learning Support implementation of weekly lesson plans aligned with Head Start curriculum Prepare and facilitate developmentally appropriate learning activities Encourage exploration, creativity, confidence, and learning through play Provide emotional support and model positive behavior Help create an inclusive environment that supports each child's individual needs Child Development Assist with observations, screenings, and developmental assessments Support individualized learning activities based on children's developmental levels Assist with implementation of IEP goals for children with special needs Promote children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development Family Engagement Participate in home visits and parent-teacher conferences as needed Help communicate children's progress and classroom experiences with families Support connections between families, the classroom, and community resources Safety & Daily Classroom Routines Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities Assist with meals, handwashing, bathroom routines, toothbrushing, transitions, and other daily activities Support field trips and special classroom activities Follow all required health and safety procedures Documentation & Classroom Coverage Assist with attendance, sign-in/sign-out documentation, CACFP meal counts, and other required records Provide classroom coverage and planning support as needed Maintain accurate and timely documentation On-Call Availability This is a substitute/on-call position . Candidates must be flexible and able to work at various program sites based on staffing needs. Assignments may be offered with same-day notification as early as 6:30 a.m.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Education, Psychology or similar Minimum of 12 Child Development/Early Childhood Education units, including 6 Early Childhood Education/Infant-Toddler units Valid California Child Development Teacher Permit OR eligibility for a Temporary Child Development Permit Candidates without a current permit must have their education/transcripts evaluated for permit eligibility through the Department of Education Successfully complete LiveScan/background clearance Negative TB clearance dated within the past year Current MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella) vaccination documentation Pertussis (Must be under 10 years) vaccination Influenza vaccination documentation To Be Considered Please submit your resume and transcripts with your application.
