Job Description Summary:
Mountain Song Community School is a Waldorf-inspired charter school committed to holistic education that nurtures the body, mind, and heart. Substitute Teachers at MSCS support this mission by providing consistent, developmentally appropriate instruction and classroom management in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Substitutes are essential members of our educational community, helping to maintain a stable and supportive learning environment. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Classroom Management Deliver lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher, following established rhythms and routines. Provide continuity of instruction and uphold classroom expectations rooted in Waldorf pedagogy. Adapt instruction as needed to support student engagement and understanding. Maintain a calm, respectful, and nurturing classroom environment. Student Supervision & Support Supervise students in the classroom and during transitions, recess, lunch, and other assigned duties. Support students' academic, social, and emotional development through positive reinforcement and consistent boundaries. Address behavioral concerns in accordance with school practices and philosophy. Professionalism & Communication Communicate effectively with support staff, administrators, and other faculty regarding classroom needs or issues that arise during the absence of the regular teacher. Represent MSCS in a professional manner at all times. Demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit. School Participation Arrive on time and follow daily schedules as outlined. Follow all school policies and procedures, including health and safety protocols. Respect the values and cultural practices of the MSCS community.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned to support the school's operations.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred). Experience working with children in an educational setting. Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Waldorf or holistic education environments. Colorado Substitute Authorization or Teaching License. Flexibility to work across multiple grade levels (K-8).
Additional Information Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Occasionally required to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Close vision required for detail-oriented tasks. Work occurs in both office and outdoor settings, with frequent noise and potential exposure to bacterial or viral contaminants due to interactions with youth. Pay:
$22.50 per hour Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
