Cadre substitutes are an essential part of this mission. By providing rotating classroom coverage across our 13 elementary schools, cadre substitutes allow entire grade-level teams the dedicated time needed for data analysis, professional learning, lesson planning, and collaboration to strengthen instruction and improve student learning and outcomes. In addition to classroom coverage, cadre substitutes may assist teachers with student testing, organization and distribution of educational resources, and provide classroom aide support when needed. Cadre substitutes are scheduled to work five (5) days per week. Position Responsibilities Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivates students to learn and participate. Instruct students on a variety of classroom topics and courses. Assign students reasonable tasks and homework in accordance with the lesson plans. Address the various learning styles of students accordingly. Model correct use of spoken and written English language. Demonstrate professional practices in teaching. Classroom Management Maintain a safe, positive, and orderly classroom environment consistent with district, school, and state guidelines. Supervise students to ensure safety and well-being at all times. Protect and appropriately use school equipment, materials, and property. Remain with students in the classroom and actively monitor them at all times, maintaining engagement and professionalism (personal phone use is not permitted during instructional time). Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the Building Administration immediately Supervise students in non-classroom settings (assemblies, lunchroom, recess) as needed.
