A substitute teaching position with ESS may be the opportunity you're looking for! ESS has partnered with the Somers (CT) School District to place passionate Substitute Teachers in the classroom for Fall 2026! We are currently looking for a dynamic Long-Term Substitute Physics Teacher to support the Somers High School Community effective immediately. There may be an opportunity for this position to transition to a permanent teaching position. When a teacher is absent, a qualified substitute is needed to carry out the educational program. As a long-term substitute teacher, you'll become an integral part of a school's educational team, amplifying your teaching expertise while maximizing the learning experience for students! As a long-term substitute, you will be responsible for implementing provided lesson plans, grading/reporting, parent communication, and classroom management. This position will be supported by the Administration and Department Leads. Responsibilities Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while the regular teacher is absent Review and implement the regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline problems to school administration Perform other duties as directed by school administration Qualifications Teaching Certification Preferred (032), minimum bachelor's degree with 12 credits in the specific subject area CT/FBI Criminal History Clearance Department of Children and Families Child Abuse and Neglect Registry Record Clearance Education Employment Verification
