Position Overview Truth seeks a Long-Term Substitute Middle School STEM Teacher to provide mathematics and science instruction in mixed-grade classrooms during a teacher's extended absence. The assignment is expected to begin November 9, 2026, and last approximately 12-16 weeks. The substitute will maintain instructional continuity, serve as a mentor and learning coach, and collaborate within Truth's co-teaching model throughout the assignment. Duties and Responsibilities Instruction and classroom management Implement established curriculum and develop or adapt lessons and assessments with colleagues as needed. Deliver mathematics and science instruction that supports interdisciplinary learning. Maintain an inclusive classroom, consistent routines, and clear behavioral expectations. Differentiate instruction and implement required student accommodations and supports. Collaborate with STEM, Humanities, English language support, and special education colleagues. Coordinate instruction and student movement with co-teaching partners. Follow school safety procedures, including during science activities. Mentorship and student support Mentor an assigned group of approximately 13 students. Facilitate a daily self-directed learning block. Support student goal-setting, personalized learning plans, implementation, and reflection. Build positive relationships with students and families. Communicate regularly about student progress, successes, and concerns. Assessment and professional responsibilities Assess learning, provide timely feedback, and adjust instruction based on student work. Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and progress records. Participate in relevant planning meetings and professional development. Practice culturally responsive instruction and reflect on how personal biases affect students. Respond constructively to coaching and feedback. Document instructional progress and student needs to support a smooth transition at the assignment's conclusion. Follow school policies for supervision, confidentiality, and professional conduct. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; master's degree preferred. Middle school mathematics or science teaching experience preferred. Strong classroom management, communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Commitment to competency-based learning, student independence, and every student's potential. Willingness to participate in assignment-specific orientation and training. Montessori experience is not required. Availability for the anticipated 12-16-week assignment beginning approximately November 9, 2026. Physical Requirements Duties include moving throughout school spaces, supervising students, using instructional technology, and handling classroom materials.
