Job Description

The VPK Teacher will faithfully support Bradenton Christian School's mission statement to prepare the hearts and minds of God's covenantal children in partnership with the home and church for service in God's world. It is the VPK Teacher's responsibility to carry out the policies of the School Board as they relate to the function of the school, to the classroom, and to their association with students and parents. Summary The VPK Teacher reports to the Preschool Director and is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, engaging, and Christ-centered learning environment. The teacher will plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences, provide active supervision and care of students, maintain a positive classroom environment, and work collaboratively with families, staff, and administration. (Matt 19:14) Duties/Responsibilities Provides a Christ-centered, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Plans and implements age-appropriate curriculum and learning activities. Supports students' spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Provides active supervision and ensures the safety and well-being of all students. Maintains appropriate classroom routines, organization, and student-to-staff ratios. Uses positive and developmentally appropriate classroom management strategies. Maintains accurate attendance, student records, lesson plans, and other required documentation. Communicates professionally and regularly with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities. Works collaboratively with the Preschool Director, teachers, aides, and other school personnel. Participates in staff meetings, professional development, chapel, school events, and other activities as requested. Maintains compliance with all applicable federal, state, and school requirements. Maintains required background screening, training, and credentials. Models a Christ-centered lifestyle and integrates Biblical principles throughout the school day. Performs other duties as assigned by the Preschool Director or school administration. Required Skills and Qualifications A clearly articulated testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, along with weekly in-person attendance in a Christian church. A clear understanding of and support for covenantal Christian education and Bradenton Christian School's mission and Statement of Belief. Demonstrates spiritual maturity and a growing commitment to the Christian faith. Must possess and maintain an active Staff Credential specified as FCCPC, NECC, or Formal Education, as documented on a DCF transcript, and all Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) credentials required to serve as a preschool teacher. Documented completion of the DCF standards course "Implementing the Florida Standards in
Preschool Classrooms:
3 Years Old to Kindergarten" (VFSP or SPC3TK), with completion documented on a DCF transcript. Documented completion of 3 approved 5-hour emergency literacy courses (or 1 of the approved 20-hour courses) from the "VPK Lead Teacher Emergent Literacy Requirement DEL Flyer." Experience or education in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field preferred. Ability to connect with and communicate effectively with young children. Strong communication, classroom management, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with families, staff, and administration. Must be dependable, professional, flexible, and willing to serve the needs of the preschool program. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
