03/27/2026 Christopher Columbus High School seeks responsible, professional, and adaptable Substitute Teachers to support the continuity of instruction and uphold the school's Catholic Marist mission during teacher absences. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for implementing lesson plans as provided, maintaining a structured and respectful classroom environment, and ensuring student safety and accountability throughout the school day. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong classroom management skills, professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to fostering a productive learning environment rooted in Marist educational values.Responsibilities:
Report daily to the Principal's Secretary's office by 7:30 a.m. in professional attire. Review school communications each morning for announcements, updates, and assignments. Implement lesson plans as provided by the classroom teacher; notify the main office immediately if plans are unavailable. Accurately record and submit student attendance in accordance with school procedures. Maintain classroom discipline consistent with school policies and expectations. Foster a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment. Supervise students in assigned areas, including classrooms, parking lot, and café as directed. Participate in morning prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and school announcements in alignment with school practice. Enforce school policies, including cell phone procedures and classroom expectations. Prepare a detailed report for the classroom teacher summarizing attendance, lesson progress, student behavior, and notable developments. Follow all emergency protocols, including fire drills, lockdowns, and medical procedures.Qualifications:
Associate's degree or current enrollment in a degree program. Prior teaching, tutoring, coaching, or youth supervision experience preferred. Familiarity with high school instructional settings is preferred. Strong classroom management and supervisory skills. Ability to follow detailed lesson plans and adapt when necessary. Clear verbal and written communication skills. Professional judgment and situational awareness. Flexibility, patience, and responsiveness in dynamic classroom environments.
