Music and Company is looking for an engaging, dependable drum teacher to join our substitute team at our Chicago studio. Our school is built around helping students make real music—not just complete exercises. We connect technique and musicianship with songs, playing with others, and performing. Subbing can be your first step toward a regular teaching role at M&C. We use our substitute team as a pipeline for future teaching openings. It's an opportunity to meet our students, get to know the school, and demonstrate your teaching strengths. Strong substitutes can be considered for recurring lessons as openings become available; regular hours are not guaranteed. What you'll doYou'd be a great fit Cover private drum lessons when regular teachers are unavailable. Teach students of different ages and abilities, including beginners. Develop students' rhythm, coordination, technique, and musical confidence. Use songs and practical playing to keep lessons engaging. Follow lesson notes and communicate what you worked on. Are a skilled drummer who enjoys explaining things clearly. Can make a beginner feel comfortable behind the kit. Balance solid fundamentals with a fun, musical approach. Are reliable, patient, and comfortable working with kids and adults. Can step into an existing lesson schedule and adapt to individual students Coverage is as needed , based on teacher absences and your availability. This is not initially a guaranteed weekly teaching schedule.
