This position includes primarily weekday afternoon/evening and weekend morning and afternoon hours. Hired employee will work 5 days a week and may be scheduled on a varying combination of weekday and weekend days. A sample Fall/Spring schedule might be: Sunday- 8:30am-4:30pm Monday

COMPENSATION
Starting pay is $21 an hour for administrative work. Starting pay for teaching hours is negotiated based on experience.BENEFITS

This position works alongside the Primary Admin at the front desk and reports to the Business Operations Manager. Coordination with Class Instructors and Director occurs daily.EMPLOYMENT SUMMARY
Dance studio in Oak Park is looking to fill a full-time, multi-title position which includes responsibilities of Front Desk Staff, Costume/Retail/Supply Manager and Class Substitute Instructor. A typical weekday for this position begins at 2:00pm with office work before customers arrive. This might include responding to customer or internal emails, returning phone calls, organizing various studio items, taking inventory, placing costume or dancewear orders, and packaging customer orders. Customers arrive for classes between 3:30pm and 8:30pm. This time is spent greeting students, assisting with customer service needs, making retail sales, and providing any needed support to instructors. While instructors manage activities inside the classrooms, this position assists with managing the studio lobby, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. This position is also on our roster of substitute instructors who step in to teach for absent instructors when necessary. Typically, advance notice is provided and instruction plans are passed along. Occasionally, an emergency might come up and this position will be called upon to substitute teach on short notice. Upon hiring, we will provide training in our programming for ages 2 through adult to adequately prepare the applicant for any substitute need that may arise. The evening typically ends around 9:30pm when this position ensures all students are picked up and closes the facilities for the night.CORE POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Dance class substitute teacher deliver comparable, engaging instruction across all ages, levels, and styles, using lesson plans provided by the absent instructor or creating your own when none is available Adhere to TDS curriculum requirements when substituting classes 2. Costume Management Oversee the complete costume process for recreational recital and competitive team costumes Collecting costume selections & entering data Measuring students & entering measurements Ordering costumes Receiving & processing costumes Managing alterations of costumes (minor sewing, rhinestoning, and some outsourcing) Distribution of costumes Ensure cost of goods and labor stay within budget, and that pricing adheres to profit margin requirements Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) as processes evolve 3. Retail Management Overseeing the boutique retail Sizing customers for dancewear Completing merchandise sales Accepting & entering merchandise orders Inventorying of merchandise Ordering of merchandise Receiving & processing merchandise Distribution of merchandise orders Managing the online store for recital items and team spiritwear Handling all merchandise customer service items Track and analyze retail sales performance, working toward specified sales goals and adjusting approach based on results Ensure cost of goods and labor stay within budget, and that pricing adheres to profit margin requirements Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) as processes evolve 4. Supply management Inventorying studio's operational & event supplies Ordering studio's operational & event supplies Organization/storage of studio's operational & event supplies Preparation of supplies and setup for special events Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) as processes evolve 5. Meet a 90% attendance rate per quarter Meet a 100% on-time arrival rate per quarter Wear dress code (staff shirt and black bottoms) Attend the three scheduled staff training meetings each year (paid) Complete Shift Logs correctly and on time Meet recital and dress rehearsal availability requirements. (Full-time employees must be available for all recital and dress rehearsal dates unless a special circumstance previously approved in writing by their manager before April 1.) Maintain Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification. (costs & training hours paid by TDS at admin rate) Maintain an Illinois Mandated Reporter certification (costs & training hours paid by TDS at admin rate)QUALIFICATIONS
Education Qualification:
BFA, BA, or BS in Dance. Extensive working experience in youth dance instruction may be considered in lieu of a degree. Dance teaching experience (2+ years). Experience teaching ages 2 through adult. Advanced proficiency in at least three of the listed styles. Beginner to Intermediate proficiency in all other listed styles. Ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, acro/tumbling. Experience sewing by hand and with a machine is a plus. If not already experienced with basic sewing, applicant must be willing to learn. Prior receptionist, administrative, customer service, retail, and/or sales experience strongly preferred (at least 1 year) Prior e-commerce experience (Shopify or similar) strongly preferred Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, and to regularly lift and carry up to 50lbs (costume/merchandise boxes, supply totes, etc.), with or without reasonable accommodation. Applicants must submit to and pass a background check for working with children. Reliable mode of transportation enabling dependable timeliness required.JOB REQUIREMENTS
