Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Substitute Dance Teacher to join our vibrant arts education team. In this role, you will bring energy, creativity, and professionalism to dance classes across various age groups and skill levels. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver engaging dance instruction that inspires students, fosters their love for movement, and supports their artistic development. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to influence young dancers' growth while maintaining a flexible schedule that adapts to our program needs. Responsibilities Lead dance classes in a variety of styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, or hip-hop, tailored to different age groups and skill levels Implement lesson plans provided by the regular instructor or develop your own engaging curriculum aligned with program standards Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive and inclusive learning environment Demonstrate choreography and dance techniques clearly, ensuring students understand and can replicate movements Support students' artistic expression through constructive feedback and encouragement Collaborate with other teaching staff on special performances, recitals, or arts projects Maintain safety protocols during all activities and ensure equipment and studio spaces are well-maintained Requirements Proven experience teaching dance or performing arts to children and youth in educational or community settings Strong knowledge of various dance styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, or hip-hop Ability to develop creative lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development principles Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to work with diverse student populations Experience working with children and understanding childhood development principles Familiarity with choreography techniques and dance instruction methods Knowledge of musical instruments or musical accompaniment for dance classes is a plus Background in theater arts, visual arts, or other performing arts disciplines is desirable Prior experience in youth programs teaching or early childhood education is advantageous Skills in photography, sewing, cooking, or childcare are considered additional assets but are not mandatory This role is ideal for passionate educators who thrive on inspiring young minds through movement and artistic expression.
