May substitute for one day or for a longer term absence; may follow lesson plans developed by the regular teacher, or work with teacher who will be out to create new lesson plans and assignments.

Job Description

Teach the target language and culture in classes that are task-based, interactive, learner-centered, and experiential for students. Willingness to assist in the general areas of supervision. Ability to work cooperatively with department members to develop curriculum. Willingness to work with members of other departments in areas of student activities, interdisciplinary units.

Massachusetts certification in the fields Latin and Classical Humanities, 9-12.. High school teaching experience desirable. Fluency in the language(s) required due to oral approach. Demonstrated ability to utilize a Socratic approach and to incorporate thinking skills in instruction. Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills. Knowledge of ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) standards and proficiency guidelines and the ability to integrate these standards into curriculum and instruction. Willingness to teach Latin with Comprehensible Input. Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills.
