To Be Determined Job Description Substitute Teacher (Daily, as needed) Hingham Public Schools is seeking candidates to fill substitute teacher positions at all levels (prek-12). All substitute postions are on an "as needed" basis. These positions offer flexibile scheduling. Primary responsibility of the Substitute Teacher is to ensure continuity of instruction and classroom management in absence of regular teacher. Responsibilities Follow lesson plans, or in absence of lesson plans may need to create/develop plans and activities to provide continuity of learning Take attendance and ensure student safety in the classroom throughout the school day, including during breaks and transitions May be required to record grades, and provide feedback to the regular teacher about student progress and classroom activities Adapt to a variety of teaching styles, subjects, and grade levels Effective communication with students, staff members Strict confidentiality and compliance with state and federal laws around professional ethics, sensitive information about students and professional staff, information about disabilities, educational plans, behavior, learning or teaching styles, etc. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Associates degree, or completion of 60 college credits (transcripts required) Experience teaching students Prek-12, preferred Strong ethical and moral decision making Equal Opportunity Employer Hingham Public Schools does not and will not discriminate on the basis of race (race to include traits historically associated with race, including, but not limited to, hair texture, hair type, hair length and protective hairstyles), color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, religion, disability, age, genetic information, active military/veteran status, marital status, familial status, pregnancy, or pregnancy-related condition, homelessness, foster care status, ancestry, ethnic background, national origin, socio-economic status, language acquisition status, or any other category protected by state or federal law in the administration of its educational and employment policies, or in its programs and activities.
