Walnut Hill School for the Arts is seeking reliable and engaging substitute academic teachers to support the School's Academic Program during the 2026 - 2027 school year.
Compensation:
$100 per day for 2 classes; $150 per day for 3 classes
Hours:
8:00 am - 1:30 pm, as needed When an academic faculty member is absent, whether planned or unplanned, substitute teachers play an important role in providing continuity and maintaining a supportive and productive learning environment for our students. Substitute teachers may be asked to cover courses across Humanities, Math, Science, and World Languages. Working from lesson plans and materials provided by the classroom teacher, substitutes will facilitate planned learning activities, support student engagement, take attendance, and help maintain established classroom expectations and routines. The ideal candidate is dependable, flexible, comfortable working with high school students, and able to step confidently into a variety of classroom environments. Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience is preferred. Walnut Hill's Academic Program serves a diverse community of student-artists and emphasizes curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration, and meaningful engagement with learning. We are seeking substitutes who will contribute positively to that learning environment and to the broader Walnut Hill community.
Qualifications:
Teaching, substitute teaching, or related experience required; experience working with high school students preferred; Comfort with technology and willingness to adopt new technologies as needed; Possess cultural competence in working with diverse populations; demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive community; Share an educational and artistic vision that aligns with the core principles of Walnut Hill; and Flexible schedule and ability to cover a wide range of courses.
