Title:
Building-Based Substitute Teachers•.5 FTE
Function:
The role of the Building-Based Substitute Teacher is to maintain classroom discipline and to carry on the classroom procedures as if he/she were the regular teacher. The Building-Based Substitute Teacher will maintain the same responsibilities and the same duties as the regular teacher, including bus duty and playground supervision. In the absence of the teacher, the Building-Based Substitute will provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth while following any lesson plans and/or instructions left by the classroom teacher. He/She will enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in and out of the classroom.
Duties:
1.Assigned to rotate into various teaching positions in the school on a daily basis and possibly throughout the day 2.Implement teacher lesson plans and administrator directives with fidelity and efficiency 3.Communicate with classroom teachers or school administrators regarding expectations for student work, behavior, and lesson execution 4.Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students. 5.Ensure the teacher's absence does not cause an interruption in classroom instruction 6.Gain familiarity with district curriculum and resources 7.Attend and contribute in staff meetings and professional development activities as assigned by principal or their designee 8.Perform supervisory duties as assigned (such as lunch, bus, or recess duty) 9.Abide by state statutes, school committee policies and regulations 10.Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by principal or designee 11.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities 12.Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations 13.Report all suspicions of abuse and/or neglect to DCYF and the principal 14.Maintain confidentiality regarding students and staff personnel information 15.Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the District 16.Ability to be flexible with job assignments as needed 17.Remain current on instructional practices in education (e.g. instructional technology) 18.Assume responsibility for other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned Full time position only $62.50/day
