The Rivers School — a 6-12 co-ed independent day school in Weston, MA, just outside Boston — seeks professionals who are looking to join a dynamic, innovative, and welcoming school community. Position Summary The Rivers School seeks substitute teachers for our Middle and Upper Schools. We are interested in both short and long-term substitute teachers who have had experience in the classroom and understand how to manage a classroom and teach from lesson plans in order to provide continuity of instruction for the students. Substitute teachers play an important role as the expectation is oftentimes active and engaged teaching in a setting where students will continue to learn in the absence of their teacher. Compensation is based on the length of the subbing assignment. Essential Responsibilities for Short-Term Substitute Teachers Teach classes following lesson plan Assist and supervise classrooms as needed Perform duties as assigned by the relevant teacher Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree Enthusiasm and communication skills to engage students and build meaningful relationships
