Aug 24, 2026 Job Description Appleview Elementary is seeking a long-term substitute for a 5th-grade classroom to cover a temporary absence while the teacher is out on maternity leave. This position will involve a primarily ELA focus and working closely with the 5th-grade team to ensure continuity of instruction during this time. This position would run from August 18th to October 16th.
Position Responsibilities:
Teach 5th Grade ELA using established curriculum, pacing guides, and instructional resources. Deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that support a range of learners. Utilize technology effectively, including PowerSchool and Google Classroom to manage assignments, assessments, and communication. Collaborate with the 5th grade team Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that supports student learning and accountability. Carry out all standard teacher responsibilities, including attendance, grading, supervision, and communication with students and families as needed. Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Michigan Substitute Certification (60 Credit Hours) Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
